Having fresh flowers in the house is a small way to add a little beauty to your everyday surroundings. No matter how badly the floors need to be vacuumed, how many piles of mail there are, or toys piled up on the stairs, there is always something pretty to focus on. In my opinion flowers are the equivelent to wearing big earrings to draw the attention to your pretty face. Its a quick way to brighten up a space. If unexpected people pop in it looks like you made an extra effort. This can get costly and my budget for small beautiful things is not as big as I would like. So once a week or so I raid the flower section at Trader Joes. I head for the mixed flowers that are 3$ to 4$ each buy three or four, one more expensive single variety and some sort of fill. I then open them all and put them in a container for a few hours so they can open, gather a bunch of mason jars and dollar store vases and start to create as many arrangements as I can. Baby food jars work great for making small arrangements out of leftover flowers, for bathrooms or mantles. Flowers are a great way to enhance your mood and bring a little exra beauty to your day, but make sure once they're dead you get rid of them. As great as a beautiful flower arrangement can make you feel an old droopy dead one can make you feel just as bad.
